 Libyan Petroleum Institute (LPI) is committed to comply with the International Standard by implementing ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Quality Management System since 2005, whereby Gas Chromatography and Fuel Laboratories were awarded accreditation by Dutch Accreditation Body (DAP).
Another Successful milestone was achieved in 2007, whereby another eight laboratories (Atomic Absorption, NMR, Crude Oil, Lubricant, Water, Analytical Chemistry, Reservoir & Rock, and Drilling & Cement Laboratories) were awarded the accreditation.

A meeting was held on 26th March 2008 at 10 am regarding the upcoming First International Environmental Conference and Exhibition (12 – 14 May 2008) and workshops to be executed simultaneously during the conference days. 
Libyan Petroleum Institute (LPI) new employees are coming under new evaluations.
Thanks to the new cooperation between the University of Lausanne (UNIL, Switzerland) and the Libyan Petroleum Institute (LPI, Libya), two members of the LPI (Mohamed Saleem and Faraj Alkhatri) and four members of UNIL (Christian Verard, Patrice Moix, Philippe Weber and Vincent Richard) carried out a field trip in the vicinity of Al Awaynat and Ghat (south west Libya).
