From Yerenex energy area 47 Libya Limited, visited the LPI Arrangement for this visit was prepared by the Exploration & Reservoir Laboratory Department, the delegate arrived at LPI and they were welcomed by Dr: Mahmoud Elbaki, the department manager and Engineer: Mahmoud Dahab, the laboratories coordinator. The department manager gave brief introduction to the visitor about the department activities the visual presentation was made to them. The our inside all laboratories arranged for them comprehensive exploitation for each laboratory presented by the lab supervisor. The delegate were given of the last two volumes of the LPI journal and the 2006 price list of laboratories analysis. Finally the delegate were very happy from what they saw in LPI and they also requested different jobs after few days from visited the LPI laboratories

In collaboration with the Midle East Desalination Research Center (MEDRC), LPI announces a 6-day short course on: “Operation and Maintenance of Desalination Processes” February 10-15, 2007, Tripoli, Libya
Course Summary
Thermal desalination processes are widely used for many years for their capability in providing high quality water at large quantity. Their designing, troubleshooting and operation should be performed in appropriate and professional way to maintain satisfactory performance. The course will commence with a two-day introduction on the fundamentals of these processes and will continue for four days concentrating on the practical aspects of desalination. Major part of the course will be centered on Multi Stage Flash (MSF), but the design, operation and maintenance of Thermo Compression Multi Effect Distillers (TC-MED) will also be covered. |

Congratulations to all LPI staff "In today’s global economy, organizations are increasingly called upon to demonstrate sound management of economic, social and environmental issues. The Libyan Petroleum Institute has successfully implemented the ISO/IEC 17025 standard to demonstrate the competence of testing laboratories within last 6 months for Gas Chromatography and Jet Fuel Laboratory. The laboratory quality system has been implemented by the Quality Systems Office and the Laboratory Coordination of Industrial & Production Technology Research Dept. (IPTRD), with the guidance of the Malaysian Experts from EQA and the assessment was performed by German Accreditation Body (DAP). The Quality Systems Office conveys his greetings to all LPI staff.

Introduction
The Libyan petroleum Institute’s plan is to undertake a series of projects aimed at transferring NMR technology to LPI for the benefit of the Libyan oil and gas industry. LPI will conduct two projects, with the first being the purchase an NMR core analysis instrument, along with detail training programme for operating the machine and interpreting the data. The second project, which is the topic for the rest of this overview, is a multiclient programme entitled “NMR Core and Log Library for Libyan Sandstone and Carbonate Reservoirs.” The project includes:
* The creation of a national NMR database
* Training for all participating companies
* A position on the guidance committee
Access to new NMR data and interpretation methodologies, as they become available in the project
The opportunity participate in a ground-breaking project for enhancing capabilities at LPI
An efficient method for getting NOC organisations integrated into a modern formation evalua-tion technology.
