ImageFor those who are a little confused or unaware of ISO and its activities within the industrial organizations and institutions, ISO is a non-governmental organization and a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries, on the basis of one member per country, with a central secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates its activities. Its founders decided to give this organization a short all-purpose name of ISO derived from the Greek word ‘isos’, meaning “equal “.

For more details on this subject we are very glad to have an interview with one of our guests Mr. Adrian Anantha Raja the principal consultant from ARPRO Training and Consultancy.

This organization provides training and consultancy services that fits specific operations and evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs and practices of a multitude of organizations and institutes. Is this your first trip to Libya?
This is my second trip.
What is the main purpose of your trip?
To provide management system maintenance service for the management systems developed and implemented in LPI as well as to carry out awareness and internal audit trainings for LPI’s staff.
Give us a brief summary on your training courses to Libyan Petroleum Institute’s employees?
We conducted ISO9001:2008 and ISO17025:2005 awareness trainings, technical procedure awareness training as well as Advanced Internal Auditor Training. These trainings were conducted as a refresher for some staff and as awareness to new staff. The trainings were carried out based on a schedule prepared and was done within a period of 2 months.
What ISO standards are you focusing on during your training here in the LPI?
The ISO9001 and ISO17025
What is the duration of your courses?
The duration varied from 5 days to 10 days for each course and it was for a period of 2 hours a day.
How many trainees attending your course?
There was an average of 45 staff for the awareness trainings and 15 staff for the Internal Audit training.
What is your advice to both the trainees and their manger?
To the trainees: to willingly implement and comply to the established management systems at all times, suggest improvements and to strive for excellence and participate in other related trainings that are organized by LPI.
To the management: the management commitment is of utmost importance and it is important to continuously commit to the implementation of the management systems, to evaluate and provide the necessary resources and support to the staff in the implementation and continual improvement of the management systems.
According to your observations during your work here in the LPI is there anything you want to say to us?
The implementation of the management systems is a journey and its effective implementation depends on the commitment form both the management and the staff. Though both have different roles to play it requires the effort of both parties to reap the benefits of implementing these systems. This is the foundation and LPI has to build on this foundation by implementing other TQM activities to achieve greater heights in providing quality services.
